Projects addressed to the victims of domestic and gender violence and persons with disabilities, financed under the Local Development call
The first two projects contracted under the Local Development call address some of the most actual and sensitive problems of the society. Through direct interventions, they facilitate the access of the victims of domestic and gender violence as well as persons with disabilities to integrated quality services.
The project “GLORIA – integrated assistance for the victims of domestic and gender violence”, implemented by the Institute for Forensic Medicine Iaşi, addresses a number of 550 persons, adults and children, victims of violence, in rural and small urban areas in Iaşi, Vaslui, Bacău and Neamţ counties, covering the support needs for a number of 250 local communities where services of this type are missing or insufficient. In the first phase, the persons in these communities who have been victims of domestic or gender violence will benefit from psychological and social assessment, complementary to the medical services of forensic diagnosis in cases of physical trauma or sexual violence and rape. Furthermore, depending on the assessment results, the victims and their children (where appropriate) shall be included in a psychological, family, social, parental and educational counselling programme and legal assistance and counselling, accessible in a newly established centre under the project – Counselling Centre for the victims of domestic violence. The project also has a housing component addressed to a number of 50 beneficiaries, persons under a temporary protection order or a protection order for the period deemed necessary to protect the lives of adult victims and children, but are at risk of abuse by the aggressor in their own home. They will benefit from home security measures by installing and monitoring security/alarm systems, installing a panic button, changing locks as well as other similar actions, adapted to the victim’s risk level.
The project “TOGETHER – community support for adults with disabilities”, implemented by the General Directorate for Social Assistance and Child Protection Buzău aims to ensure access to integrated services for 105 adults with disabilities from 4 communes in Buzău county (Stâlpul, Merei, Pietroasele and Ulmeni), where such services do not currently exist. In order to increase the quality of life and support the integration of the persons with disabilities and their families, a day centre and a maximum protected housing shall be set up under the project. The day centre, which will be housed in a building to be rehabilitated and equipped under the project, shall provide information and counselling services, psychological counselling, empowerment and rehabilitation (massage, physical therapy or physiotherapy, occupational or vocational therapy), neuro-motor recovery, care and assistance activities (support for dressing/undressing, shoes putting on/ taking off, hygiene, transfer and mobilization, for indoor/outdoor movement), activities for the development of independent living skills and working skills, preparation for employment and support for maintaining the job. The maximum protected housing, located in a building to be built under the project on a plot of land belonging to Buzău County Council shall provide non-stop services for accommodation, food, information and social counselling, psychological counselling, empowerment and rehabilitation activities, care and assistance, development/consolidation of cognitive skills and daily skills as well as self-management and social interaction, addressed to the beneficiaries.
